Burgh House & Hampstead Museum
For this project, Mo created a design that balances a mix of local historical references with functional modern details. His design included reconnecting the upper garden space with the public garden below using a spacious staircase, designing strips of long narrow parallelogram beds to pay homage to the river that once ran through Hampstead, and creating a playful modular open-air exhibition space.
The water planters pay homage to the natural spas that once existed in the area, and are planted with aquatic plants that support the local rare Dragonfly species.
This completes the full circle of carefully selected biodiverse pollinator friendly plants with tiered flowering seasons in order to support the local wildlife throughout the year.
Completing the design with an immersive experience green cube courtyard at the back of the property, engulfed with evergreen flowering plants. With a final touch of beautifully scented flowering climbers enveloping the cube, wrapped around sparse metal cords to allow strips of sunlight to illuminate the space.
